The Aurora Multisport is an association, which was founded by workers and users at the mental health services with the assistance of other human resources in the area.

It officially came about in 1994. Initially it was an extension of a “room” that depended on the DSM in Pratio and then became an ongoing association in the sense that all transformations and expansions came about with time. What the association represents today didn’t come about with the application of a precise method planned out ahead of time but as a continuous needs of the area and based on the reality which concentrated its objectives based on the necessities which presented themselves during the course of development.

Physical activity was the first stage. It allowed us to present the multisport center outside of our center with an 8-player soccer tournament organized by DSM together with Aurora in Livorno. It was thanks to this tournament that the first agreement of the new structure was made. The majority of the users complained of the contrast between the psycho-pharmaceutical therapies and the athletic performance, which was considered not to be in conformity with the requested needs and the inadequate emotional support that the new group inevitably faced.

The main goal of the multisport center is to stay true to the regulations of a non-profit organization and to act accordingly.
