The Prize

Take home a “jocondo et alegro tractato” - a fascinating summary of logics and mathematics. If you love playing chess and are passionate about the game’s history, don’t miss the chance to take home this extraordinary book.

Aboca Edizioni has released this copy from the original limited edition De Ludo Schachorum collection, a manuscript written by the Bibliotheca Antiqua of Aboca Museum. This volume features 117 chess matches, some of which are played using the revolutionary “a la rabiosa” technique.

The notes accompanying the text have been written by linguists, palaeographers and chess grandmasters and explain the discovery and transcription of the manuscript, the authorship attributed to Luca Pacioli as well as the chess techniques described by the great Renaissance mathematician. The copies by Aboca Edizioni are prestigious volumes made with precious materials utilizing cutting-edge printing techniques. De ludo scachorum features papers folded and cut by hand plus a full two-band cotton hemp binding. The volume comes in a special wooden box handcrafted by artisans from a single block of 100-year oak finished in a mixture of incense, myrrh, resin and alcohol, so as to preserve its features over time.

This precious box also includes the authors’ notes and is covered in black imitlin cloth featuring hot-foil decorations.
