Puglisi is interested in an essentiality of representation, he looks for pictorial elements essential to his vision of reality; the Crucifixion is an image that symbolizes the potential hidden within the human being and at the same time the testimony of an act of pure love.

Born in 1971 in Biella, Italy, Lorenzo Puglisi lives in Bologna. His work is based on portrait painting, the result of a long journey towards the essentiality of representation and full of references to the history of oil painting. His interest in human nature and therefore in the mystery of existence are the thematic bases of his research and his work to portray it.

This is a painful painting, reflected in the tension of the forms with a sort of spasm that contracts the color and makes the brushstroke break down either into sedimented matter or otherwise magmatic deformation. A universe of feelings and reflections are embodied in a sort of hyperbole of existence, in a concentrate of painful and unbearable life.

Almost as if every element of paint becomes heavy as a stone, as dense as pitch. Despite being very young, Lorenzo Puglisi practices a classic and mature form of expression.
