The Prize

Swimming costume and cap belonging to Italian swimmer Federica Pellegrini.

The Venetian champion is a designer and brand ambassador for the Jaked brand. Born in Milan on August 5, 1988, Federica Pellegrini is the world record holder in freestyle in the 200 m category and European record holder in the 400 m category.

Federica Pellegrini has signed bother items, making them truly unique.

Considered the greatest Italian swimmer and one of the best in the world, over the course of her career Federica took part in four Olympics. In Athens 2004, aged just sixteen, she won the silver medal in the 200 m freestyle, becoming the youngest Italian athlete to have one an individual Olympic medal. In Beijing 2008 she won the gold medal in that same category, giving Italy its first women's swimming Olympics victory. At the 2007 Melbourne World Championships she broke the first of what would be a total of 11 world records in her career.

The Cause

“WE RUN TOGETHER – Supporting our team” is a sports initiative supporting two hospitals that have been at the heart of the fight against Covid-19, the Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo and the Fondazione Poliambulanza in Brescia. The funds raised from the auctions will go to the medical and nursing staff of these two hospitals that have tirelessly looked after Coronavirus patients in recent months.

This campaign has received the extraordinary support and blessing of Pope Francis who is actively involved in the initiative by donating some of his own personal highly valuable and prestigious sports items. Besides the Pope, many internationally renowned athletes, companies and sports clubs have joined the cause because we’re stronger together.

WE RUN TOGETHER is promoted and organized by four organizations that have always been committed to promoting the value of sport as a tool for inclusion, sharing, dialogue and peace. These organizations are:

Atheltica Vaticana, the first sports club in Vatican City
Sports group Fiamme Gialle (Guardia di Finanza)
“Cortile dei Gentili”, department of the Pontifical Council for Culture (VA) to promote dialogue between believers and non-believers
FIDAL-Lazio, Lazio region Athletic Federation.
