"CoronavirusTree II" by Giovanni Franzi.

Ink on paper
70 x 50 cm
2020

Giovanni Franzi's work is based on making a series of hieroglyphics, within a certain period of time, and when the time has expired the work is finished. The result was an olive tree, a tree of life - the origin of the world.

A self-taught painter born in Berlin in 1960, he has lived and worked in Milan for about thirty years. He started working as an architectural portrait painter first in the landscape tradition and then with the exhibitions "Milan seen through my eyes" (1998), "Milano Cult (1999)," Dizzying architecture, Biella and surroundings "(2000) and" Milan. From Eclecticism to the Future ”(2008) in which he portrays buildings built by great Milanese architects between the 19th and 20th centuries.

The painter revisits the works of Luca Beltrami, Luigi Broggi and Camillo Boito in a personal and original way, giving each of his creations a color, a character and a soul. The city and its buildings no longer act as a simple urban landscape, but become the leaders of the metropolis and subjects of the artist's works.

Project by Olimpia Rospigliosi curated by Bohdan Stupak. Between 14 and 22 July it will be possible to view the works exclusively on appointment at the Studio Rospigliosi in Piazza Borromeo 10 in Milan, Italy.
