Francesco Musante (Genoa 1950) is the painter of fairytales. His artworks are composed of fantastic little fellows, nocturnal skies, bright and surreal colours. They place the viewer in a dreamy atmosphere and take him back to childhood. He combines pictures with sentences, poems and song lyrics. This trend came from Pop Art of '70s, a period during which he used colours in an abstract style and Combine Paintings by Rauschenberg.
He has tried different techniques and supports: watercolour, engraving, collage, oil on canvas, boards, paper and ceramics. After his experience as an engraver in '70s, he devoted his life to painting. His early female shapes are close to Gustave Klimt and Art Nouveau, and later he became the painter of fairytales.
He dedicated a series of artworks to "Spoon River Anthology" and another to "Alice in Wonderland". He has illustrated many story books and he has exhibited his works in Italy (Rome, Milan, Prato, Verona, Bologna, Turin, Florence) and abroad (Berlin, Paris, New York, Arabia).
