It was 1944 when Pietro Capuano decided to make a bronze bell to give to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as a lucky charm at the end of the war. His source of inspiration was the Capri legend of San Michele, in which a young shepherd finds his lost sheep thanks to the tinkling of the bell given to him by the Saint. Since then, the Bell has become a talisman recognized as a symbol of Peace and Fortune.
