The Prize

The 'Il Volo su Misano' helmet that the young Abruzzese rider Stefano Nepa will wear during the Moto3 Misano GP, to be held on Sunday September 5, 2022.

Stefano Nepa, 20 years old from Cologna Spiaggia, is the only ride from Abruzzo competing in the Moto3 world championship in the Moto3 category for the Angeluss MTA Team, has presented the special helmet that he will use at the Misano 2022 GP, featuring messages of peace, solidarity and a tribute to his homeland.

After his now famous 2021 "Abruzzese DOCG" reference, which went viral all over the world, the message in the top middle part of the helmet, "Il Volo su Misano" ("Flight over Misano") is a tribute to the famous "Flight over Vienna", the heroic peace mission led by the Abruzzese poet and writer Gabriele D'Annunzio about 100 years ago.

"The idea came to me this summer while I was studying for my final exams" - explained Stafano Nepa - "and it struck me how Gabriele D'Annunzio always maintained a strong bond with his land, the same thing I'm attempting to do by highlighting the values of humility, kindness and courtesy that represents Abruzzo.

The graphics designed and created by Nicholas Casadei's CSD Racing Design are complete with a riot of colors and shapes in perfect Pop Art style and with the Abruzzo logo on the front. The helmet is produced in a single copy. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to "Casa Madre Ester" Educational Community in Scerne di Pineto, a reference point for welcoming children and single mothers in need.

Nepa's safety on the track is guaranteed by premium equipment with the MT Helmets KRE + helmet, completely in FIM approved carbon fiber.

The auction winner can choose whether to receive the signed helmet or not.

The Cause

Casa Madre Ester fa parte del grande progetto di solidarietà dell’Associazione Focolare Maria Regina, di Scerne di Pineto (TE), che opera a tutela dei bambini vittime di abbandono, trascuratezza, violenza e abuso, in situazioni di pregiudizio fisico o psicologico che le vengono affidati dal Tribunale per i Minorenni o Servizi Sociali territoriali, che vengono accolti in due Case Famiglie.

Nasce nel lontano 1988, grazie all’impegno di don Silvio De Annuntiis, e di alcune Suore diocesane che nella casa parrocchiale di Scerne, avevano iniziato ad accogliere ragazze madri in difficoltà ed i loro bambini. In tutti questi anni ha accolto centinaia di bambini e decine di mamme, ha avviato un importante lavoro di prevenzione e formazione degli operatori, divenendo un modello per la tutela e la cura del bambino a disagio.

Nella Casa vengono ospitati minori, ai quali viene offerta la possibilità di alleviare e superare la sofferenza dovuta al maltrattamento, in un ambiente familiare e confortevole. I bambini ed i ragazzi svolgono attività varie, finalizzate al recupero e reinserimento nella famiglia d’origine o in famiglie adottive. Più tardi, nel 1991 sorge il “Nido del Focolare”, situato a Cerchiara di Isola del Gran Sasso, in un ambiente naturale molto suggestivo. E’ una struttura comunitaria di tipo familiare in grado di rispondere ai bisogni dei bambini nella fascia della prima infanzia (0-6 anni), per i quali si sia reso necessario l’allontanamento dalla famiglia di origine.

La Comunità ospita fin dalla sua attivazione, nell’anno 1991, anche bambini disabili privi di famiglia di origine o abbandonati alla nascita, per i quali non è stato possibile percorrere l’iter adottivo. Tutte le opere realizzate sono state realizzate con il fondamentale contributo di tanti benefattori.
