Yuri Santos Tavares Carloia, aka Yuman, was born in Rome in 1995 to an Italian mother and a Cape Verdean father.
His musical career began in 2016 when he met manager and record company owner Alberto Quartana, who offered him a recording contract with the Leave Music label and worked alongside producer Francesco Cataldo. In 2018 Cataldo produced Twelve, the debut single of the artist, which was played frequently on the main Italian radio stations. The following year Yuman got a recording contract with Universal Music Italia, releasing Run, a single that anticipated the release of the debut album Naked Thoughts, released on the following September 27.
Winner of Sanremo Giovani 2021 with the song "Mille notti", Yuman took part in the 2022 Festival with the song "Ora e qui", co-written together with Francesco Cataldo and Tommaso Di Giulio, which placed twenty-first in the final evening.
