The Prize

Win this amazing third black shirt of the West Ham United, worn by the super young English defender Reece Burke during friendly match against Juventus.

The match of the 7th of August 2016 for the summer trophy Betway Cup, ended 3-2 in favour of the Italian team: Andy Carrol's double wasn't enough for the Hammers, they failed under the hard shots of Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Simone Zaza.

The result wasn't really important for the English team, compared to the real big objective: a new home for the East Ham of London, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium. The historical change from the Boleyn Ground, symbol of British football, to a new and modern structure like the Olympic Stadium, arouse astonishment among the English supporters.

In occasion of the unique event, Umbro decided to dress the Hammers with a gala suit, created for the occasion. The commemorative shirt took insipation from the Irons' first shirts, quoting the original name of the club founded in 1895: the Thames Ironworks Football Club.
The club was infact founded by Arnold Hills, director of the boatyard Thames Ironworks & Shipbuilding Company, together with the captain Dave Taylor, hoping to create an afterwork activity for the people of the neighborhood.

As we can deduce from the video presentation, the new shirt is a homage to the birth of the club, which started on the pitch of Hermit Road, to then, in a few years, move to Browning Road, Memorial Grounds and to the glorious Boleyn Ground, until the new Olympic Stadium.

Reece Burke exchanged his shirt with Giorgio Chiellini: the number 3 of the Italian Champion was drawn on the internal label which the warehouse worker wrote as a reminder, once the shirt had been washed.
