Bas-relief "Gala" by Salvador Dalì
奖品
The Catalan painter Salvador Dalì, among the most incisive artists of the 20th century, made a significant contribution to the art of the Surrealism movement. The movement was founded with the writing of the Surrealism Manifesto by André Berton and flourished in Europe in the early 1920s. Dalì had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with great figures of his era, like Federico Garcia Lorca, Pablo Picasso, Juan Mirò and Luis Buñuel.
Dalì, known for his extravagant character, was a master of ironic, provocative and dreamlike Surrealism that realized fantastic images, born of the constant agitation of his restless mind. One of his most famous works is "The Persistence of Memory" from 1931.
