The Silverdome, which housed the Detroit Lions for more than 25 years, was one of the largest stadiums in the NFL. It became the largest stadium in the NFL with a capacity of 80,311.
On January 6, 2002, the Lions played their final game at the Silverdome. The team relocated to Ford Field in August 2002, and the stadium remained closed until 2017. The Pontiac Silverdome was demolished in the winter of 2017. And stadium seats from the dilapidated Pontiac Silverdome were sold.
Barry Sanders is a former professional American football player who was a running back in the National Football League for the Detroit Lions.
