Banksy - Skull, 2006
Screenprint of the Pictures on Walls logo.
Screen printing distributed in 2006
POW ("Pictures on Walls") screen print with their signature skull and crossbones. These screen prints appeared in the infamous Banksy film "Exit Through the Gift Shop". The print measures 71x63.5 cm and is screen-printed on thin cardboard.
Banksy is known for urban interventions that demonstrate irreverent wit and scathing political comment. While maintaining his anonymous identity, the artist has altered street signs, illegally printed his own currency and illegally hung his work in the Louvre and the Museum of Modern Art. He often uses spray paint and stencil in his critiques of consumerism, political authority, terrorism and the state of art and its exhibition. His street art, installations and studio-produced works have been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, London, Bethlehem and beyond. His art has been the subject of widespread interest on the secondary market.
