Nicknamed the Eagle of Ligonchio and defined by some as the Italian Amália Rodrigues, she is part of the quintet of the great Italian female voices of the sixties and seventies, along with Mina, The tiger of Cremona, Milva, the Panther of Goro, Patty Pravo, the Owl of Venice, and Orietta Berti, the Nightingale of Cavriago. She has performed in some of the most important international theaters, such as Madison Square Garden in New York, Olympia in Paris, the Sydney Opera House and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and has entered the record charts in various countries, going on long tours almost all over the world: United States of America, Canada, Australia, France, Spain, Turkey, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Japan, Greece, Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Malta, Romania and Czechoslovakia.
To write songs for her have been Cristiano Malgioglio, Franco Califano, Paolo Conte, Lucio Battisti, Carla Vistarini, Roberto Vecchioni, Mogol, Umberto Balsamo, Umberto Bindi, Shel Shapiro, Giuni Russo, Donatella Rettore, Zucchero Fornaciari, Pino Donaggio, Mariella Nava, Tiziano Ferro and Avion Travel.
Out of eleven appearances at the Sanremo Festival she has won three times (1967, 1969, 1974), becoming the female singer to have won the singing event the most.
