Apprentio is a web3 blockchain education and apprenticeship program. Through a gamified approach, Apprentio pays high school kids in crypto to study token economics and web3 product management. Apprentio was launched in February 2018 at the ETHDenver hackathon in partnership with Denver Kids, a Denver-based boys and girls club. Over the course of the 36-hour hackathon, the kids learned about the origins of web3, token economics, dapps, smart contracts, and programming.
The kids came up with their own ERC721 project similar to CryptoKitties called CryptoKicks as an output of their experience. With the help of Apprentio mentors, the Apprentio team built a custom curriculum to teach the kids how to create their own non-fungible token (NFT)CryptoKicks. This included learning about basic javascript to launching their NFTs on the OpenSea ERC721 marketplace.
All money raised will go to support the 2019 program. The goal is to raise $250k, which will provide an 18-month runway for the program. The funds will be used to hire on an executive director and pay the kids to participate in the program.
Apprentio will be the kids’ full-time jobs during the summer and they’ll work part-time when they return to school in the fall. The summer curriculum will begin with token economics and incentive mechanisms utilizing the myCryptoHippo platform. Through our Apprentio partners, Apprentio will create custom curriculum that will provide the training and project milestones to build their product.
