Villa Cora is located in a park overlooking the Boboli Gardens on the hills outside the historic center of Florence.
The villa is an aristocratic residence built in the late nineteenth century by the architect Peter Comparini, commissioned by Baron Oppenheim, and reflects the architectural styles of the time, dominated by an eclectic design which endowed the residence with different artistic styles.

Villa Cora has become a major cultural and international symbol of Florence, hosting major international figures such as Princess Eugenia, wife of Napoleon III, and the French pianist Claude Debussy, and is considered among the most beautiful among the residences of the Tuscan capital.

After several changes of ownership, Villa Cora became an exclusive Grand Hotel in the late 60's. It reopened in late 2010 after a thorough renovation that lasted three years, which has brought to light two centuries of Florentine history. In January 2013, the hotel became a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux Association.
