This necklace from Papua New Guinea is handmade from a China shell, cowrie shells, shark bone, wooden beads and Jali seeds.
It was worn by men and women of the Asmat tribe as a sign of wealth and prosperity during special celebrations. In the past they were even used as payment for brides, feudal reimbursements and for admission into secret societies.

This amulet is part of a special collection of handcrafted goods from Indonesia, closed in splendid solid wood frames.
