I know, today we're interested in great topical issues, wars, migrations, the society of entertainment, politics, the internet, but the whole world can be fitted into a vase, perhaps it came from a vase. Some myths speak of a potter god of origins, others of the opening of a vase as the beginning of all our misfortunes. We find the original by pursuing the original. These vases seem to intend to show the origin, that of coming to light, of the first time the light went on. It is the story of the first ray of light that entered Plato's cave: it did not reveal shadows, but transparencies, objects that enhance the light. The English call it still life because we speak of life caught in its silent request to show itself and to be looked at. Perhaps this art also attempts to show us that we could also approach the great topical issues perhaps not in the same way but in a corresponding way. Maybe it wants to show us that behind the noise of the front row there are always those who behave differently.
Marina Bolla, a conceptual artist, puts light at the center of her research. Light is the origin of every image. By interacting with the vessel-matter she builds an optical path of thought and perceptions.
