The Unseen Cities began as an attempt at a photographic narrative that aimed to highlight everyday aspects of city life, far from the cliché of tourism but also free from common descriptive elements.
The subject is the setting for everyday life. The architectural and landscape elements that are there for all to see but that escape everyone, in fact the characteristic elements of the city of Milan. The photo of an inner courtyard could be any inner courtyard, with the same trees, the same bushes.
Then comes the human element, the people. Never portrayed in the works but ever present despite being completely absent from the shots. People's lives and actions are alluded to, they are perceived even though they never appear in photographs.
Giuseppe Biancofiore began working as a photographer in the field of Cultural Heritage first in Bari at the studio Archivio Fotografico and then in Rome, at the Central Institute of Restoration (now ISCR). At the same time he began to apply photography to other fields, building his own personal style and narrative. Since 2014 he has been vice president of AFIP International - Professional Photographers Association, thanks to which he has met professionals and intellectuals who move within the world of photography and culture. He has been working with Giovanni Gastel for several years, both individually and through AFIP's activities.
