The Godfather is a 1972 American crime film based on Mario Puzo's best-selling novel of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Albert S. Ruddy. Marlon Brando and Al Pacino feature as the leaders of a fictional New York crime family.

Marlon played Vito Corleone and won an Academy Award for his role. He was an American actor, film director and activist, born April 3rd 1924 and died July 1st 2004.

Pacino played Michael Corleone and in addition to achieving international recognition for his role in The Godfather, he was also nominated for an Oscar for his performance in The Godfather Part II.
