The Prize
"Heliospectrus" by Alexey Klokov
Series Abstract Moderne, 2016
28" x 35", enamel on Belgian linen
Helios is the Ancient Greek (pre-Olimpic) Sun God. Bringing light to the world, he represented the ethical principle of a conscious struggle against darkness. His colors are associated with yellow, white and red - wearing a billowing white cloak, he appears on a shining light chariot (yellow) of four fire-breathing winged horses (red). Not by coincidence, this solar symbolism was also found in the emperor's clothes. Rays of the sun influence the earth and fire the hearth that transfers divine energy to a material world. The painting symbolizes inspiration, enlightening and triumph.
