Gold for Kids is the project of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation dedicated to childhood and adolescent cancers, born in 2014 in synergy with the Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (AIEOP) and its Foundation (Fieop).
Approximately 1,400 children and 800 adolescents fall ill with cancer in Italy every year, pediatric cancers still represent the first cause of death from disease in children and have a dramatic impact on families.
In the last forty years, the work and dedication of doctors and researchers have made it possible to significantly increase healings, even reaching 90% for some forms of leukemia. Much has been done, but it is not enough. The funds raised on the occasion of the Turin Delegation's Charity Dinner will allow the Foundation to complete the financing for the start-up of a project aimed at improving the effectiveness of innovative cell therapies in the treatment of young patients suffering from blood cancer.
