Bernd Schuster was an instrumental captain in FC Barcelona winning the 10th La Liga title 1984/85
Schuster was the Ballon d’Or runner up in 1980 and third placed in 1981 behind Karl-Heinz Rummenigge both years. FC Barcelona won La Liga in 1984/85 season, guided by English manager Terry Venables in his first of three seasons as FC Barcelona manager. It was the first La Liga title in 11 years and many rate this as being the most important one, getting the club back on track since the Cruyff era in 1973/74. This was also the first season without Diego Maradona, who had left to join Napoli in Italy. Schuster was subbed after 80 minutes. The shirt was swapped with Sporting goalkeeper after final whistle.
