Unicef UK

Right now, children are in danger across the world. They face violence, disease, hunger, and the chaos of war and disaster. This is wrong, and it has to change. Unicef strives to ensure more of the world’s children are fed, vaccinated, educated and protected. They work in over 190 countries around the world. They have done more to influence laws, policies and customs to help protect children than anyone else in history.

Unicef was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 1953, UNICEF became a permanent part of the United Nations System. Unicef has grown into one of the largest charities in the world, with 36 National Committees based in industrialised countries, including Unicef UK. Unicef UK was founded in 1956.

The Unicef mission is to reach every child in danger. They focus on five big dangers that children today face: violence, exploitation and abuse; disease; hunger and malnutrition; war and conflict; and disaster. They work in more than 190 countries with families, local communities, business partners and governments to help protect children in danger.
