Il Grande Cuore di Moreno Onlus

Il Grande Cuore di Moreno is a volunteer association that provides solidarity and healthcare assistance to children suffering from congenital heart malformations.

The association bears the name of the young Moreno Pirocca, a boy born with a complex congenital heart disease. Always optimistic and confident in his doctors, Moreno had the gift of making his doctor his godmother on his Confirmation. There were many plans for his future, but unexpectedly, due to a heart infection on the day of the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 11, 2009, Moreno passed away at nearly 16 years old.

The main objective of the association is to help and support children born with cardiac malformation without any distinction of race, language or culture, offering them the opportunity and hope for a better life.

The association pursues this end through: promoting healthcare projects and initiatives; supporting research projects and scholarship funding for young doctors; pursuing fundraising and grants for the purchase of healthcare equipment for pediatric cardiac surgery departments; collaborating with related associations; and educating the public on congenital heart disease in school, sports and work environments.
