Casa S. Anna Onlus

The Casa S. Anna Onlus was conceived on June 5, 2005 to work and help the young and the disadvantaged: and with the people that Giorgio La Pira lovingly called “poor people”.

The name “Casa S. Anna” came about in a very natural way.

“Casa” (home) because we wanted to create an environment that represented family life, simplicity and warmth. It’s neither a hospice nor a hospital but a haven for anyone, for the time it takes, to help them get back on their feet and to get back to the adventure that is life.

“S. Anna” because it was the period of the war in Afghanistan. The friars from Spello received a letter from Kandahar and they made it public. We read it with the youths, the adults and the families. It was written and signed by a young mother; Anna. Anna is a very important woman in Christian faith; she is Mary’s mother and Jesus’ grandmother. She is the protector of expectant mothers. And so that would have been the name. We’ll call it Casa S. Anna.

Every guest has a personalized project based on their needs, competencies and by evaluating the type of difficulties and suffering that the person was victim to and therefore helping them find a light of hope for a better future and to help them start a new life and to be independent.

Casa S. Anna is characterized for being politically, religiously and financially independent and our projects are aimed at those who really need help regardless of race, culture, religious belief or political beliefs.
