Associazione Casa della Donna

The Casa della Donna is a feminist, social non-profit association, founded in Pisa in 1996 but active since 1990. It is supported by the voluntary work of its members, open to all women regardless of age, sexual orientation, religion, social status or geographical origin.

It is a meeting place and a cultural and political initiative where, by fostering relationships between women, we are committed to promote women's rights and combat gender violence; to enhance and diffuse feminist thought and the culture, knowledge and history of women and to promote affirmation of free, autonomous and self-determined women.

Inside the Casa there is an anti-violence center (with a listening line, a refuge house and six local branches) and one gender library with over 6 thousand volumes and 100 magazines. The Casa also offers Italian language course for migrant women.

Finally, it organizes training courses, campaigns, workshops in schools and different types of initiatives aimed at promoting women’s freedom and rights, gender equality, the fight against discrimination and violence against women. All the activities and services are offered for free.

La Casa della Donna is part of the “Non Una di Meno Pisa” network, the “Educare alle Differenze Pisa” network, and of the Tuscan coordination “Tosca anti-violence” centers and the national network of antiviolence “DIRE”.
