Amnesty International UK & The Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants

Amnesty International UK teamed up with the Centre’s Art and Writing class to celebrate National Poetry Day.

The Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants works to create a strong, positive, community for people who have been displaced from their countries of origin due to persecution, war, and poverty.

They create a sense of belonging and comfort for those who have left their homes, providing practical tools and structure to help displaced people to rebuild their lives, linking asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants with local people to build a stronger community for everyone.

Amnesty International UK, as part of the Families Together coalition, is campaigning for refugee families to be reunited in safety in the UK.

Words that Burn is a national Amnesty International UK project to explore and express human rights through poetry.

It challenges people to make a difference through poetry. As part of Words that Burn, Amnesty International UK supports educators by providing free educational resources to help secondary school students learn more about human rights through poetry and develop their own voice and performance style.

Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust is a registered charity in England and Wales number 1051681.
