MotoGP: the world competition most loved by enthusiasts, tourists and onlookers

MotoGP is an emotion to be experienced. It is a competition that continues to improve from year to year and which has achieved results that, once upon a time, would have been unimaginable. 1949 was year zero of the world championship because it saw the birth of the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM), an association that immediately set to work to organise the first world championship in history.

Today, the MotoGP is divided into several Grand Prix that are held in circuits around the world. It has become a fixture for motoring enthusiasts, but also for tourists and the simply curious. Each MotoGP race, in fact, is not just a sporting competition, but an exciting experience full of fun, including events, showcases, concerts and parties.

 

The 2022 edition

The new MotoGP season began on March 6th 2022 in Losail (Qatar) and will end on November 6th in Valencia (Spain). This edition features 21 races around the world and promises to be challenging and exciting. After these difficult years of the pandemic, MotoGP returns in 2022 to run numerous non-European races (which has always been part of its history) and will try to make its debut in new countries.

The second race (scheduled for March 20th), in fact, will be held in Indonesia for the first time. On the 3rd and 10th April, however, the MotoGP will make stops in Argentina and the United States. The European season will open on April 24th and will continue with the appointments in Jerez and Le Mans. Italians can circle two dates on the calendar in red: May 29th and September 4th, days in which the race will take place at Mugello and Misano.

Riders and motorbikes

There are 24 riders competing in the 2022 MotoGP, 5 more than last year, with 9 Spaniards, the largest contingent. Among the Italians, the great absentee is Valentino Rossi who, for the first time in 26 years, will not participate in the meetings. To fill the void left by the "Doctor"’s farewell are 7 Italians: Andrea Dovizioso, Luca Marini, Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Francesco Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi.

2022 is the year of new MotoGP debuts: Raul Fernandez, Darryn Binder, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi and Remy Gardner. There are also some pairs of brothers competing for the podium, including Alex and Marc Marquez, Aleix and Pol Espargaro and Brad and Darryn Binder. On the starting grid there are 8 Ducati, 4 Honda, Ktm and Yamaha and 2 Suzuki and Aprilia.
