The Bobby Moore Fund

The Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK is committed to beating bowel cancer in memory of the legendary footballer Bobby Moore. Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Every step they make toward finding a cure relies on every pound raised. One day research will beat this disease and that is why they fund the pioneering work of world-class scientists.

Stephanie Moore MBE established the Bobby Moore Fund, in partnership with Cancer Research UK, in 1993. The Fund was set up in memory of Stephanie's late husband, legendary footballer Bobby Moore, who sadly died from bowel cancer aged just 51. Bobby Moore played for West Ham United and Fulham FC and led England to World Cup victory in 1966. As the captain of the only England football team ever to win the World Cup, Bobby Moore remains one of the greatest sporting heroes in football.

Thanks to the publics' support, to date the Bobby Moore Fund has raised over £21 million. The funds are spent on pioneering bowel cancer research carried out by leading scientists working across the UK. Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK, after lung cancer, with 43 people dying from the disease every day in the UK. 1 in 16 people will suffer from bowel cancer at some point in their lifetime, but we’re making great progress at tackling the disease. Since the Bobby Moore Fund was established in 1993, bowel cancer mortality rates have fallen 30%.

Bowel cancer. It’s big. United we’re bigger.
