Street League

Street League is one of the most exciting, dynamic and fastest-growing charities in the UK. They specialise in changing the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through the power of football. Originally founded as an organisation working with homeless people in 2001, Street League now work with 16 to 25-year-olds who are not in employment, education and training.

Street League's vision is to help bring an end to structural youth unemployment in the UK. The young people Street League work with are entered into an 'Academy' programme. The Street League 10-week ‘Academy’ programme develops vital employability skills such as communication, teamwork and goal-setting, and participants play football every day. It also offers nationally recognised qualifications in numeracy, literacy and employability, and is followed by 100-hour work placements with companies that support Street League. This year Street League will help more than 1000 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds move into employment, education and training.

Street League are justifiably proud of their track record. Last year 81% of the graduates from the Academy achieve a positive outcome. That meant from every five young people who graduated from the Street League Academy, two moved into employment and two movedinto training or education. All thanks to the power of football!

As Robin van Persie, a Street League ambassador, says, "Street League are amazing because they use the power of football to help young people from the most disadvantaged communities get into work, education and training".
