Fondazione Sant’Orsola Onlus

Fondazione Sant'Orsola is a private non-profit organization, born in 2019 to improve hospitality, research and care for patients of the Bologna Polyclinic thanks to the generosity of volunteers, citizens and businesses.

The promoters of the Foundation are 16 companies, united by the desire to give something back to the territory in which they were born and raised. The promoters form the governance of the institution and bear its management costs, in this way 100% of the donations received go to the projects to which citizens and other businesses have assigned them.

We do not receive any public subsidy and everything we are able to achieve is only thanks to the generosity of donations from those who support our projects, born from listening to patients, family members and healthcare personnel. In all, more than eight million euros have been raised so far.

Fundamental for the Sant'Orsola Foundation is transparency:

  • from 2020, the statement of donations received and projects implemented is made available to everyone on the website;
  • in 2022 an impact analysis was launched together with the AICCON Study Center of the University of Bologna, dedicated to the Casa Emilia project, which was then extended to all the Foundation's activities.

In addition to what was achieved during the most acute phase of the pandemic, excellent medical equipment was purchased and donated to the hospital:

  • digital couch (€ 254,000) which makes radiotherapy safer and more effective, especially for children, reducing its side effects and the risk of relapses by 50%
  • perfusion machine, present in only 3 hospitals in Italy, which keeps the donated heart beating while waiting for a transplant: in this way more and more complex transplants can be done, with greater safety (€ 224,000).
