Fondazione Don Gnocchi

In the 27 Centers and in the thirty ambulatory active in 9 regions, "Don Gnocchi" operators take care of more than 9 thousand people every day: children and young people with disabilities; patients with trauma outcomes, affected by stroke, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson, Alzheimer or other serious debilitating diseases; people who need rehabilitation in the neuromotor or cardiorespiratory field; elderly not self- sufficient; terminally ill or in a prolonged vegetative state.
All in a global vision that does not forget families and guarantees continuity of care from one level of care to another, be it the hospital, the rehabilitation center, the family doctor, up to the home.

The care pathways are supported by an intense activity of scientific research and technological innovation. The broad spectrum of disabilities engages Foundation researchers in new and advanced areas. The studies concern the recovery of cognitive, motor and cardiorespiratory functions, using methods that can facilitate a personalized rehabilitation medicine. Today in the Centers technological systems are used that integrate the work done by the therapists, improving the effectiveness of the treatments: robots able to facilitate movement recovery in stroke patients, virtual reality solutions for the rehabilitation of children and home-based tele-rehabilitation systems.

The commitment of "Don Gnocchi" for the formation and growth of volunteering is intense. Finally, the effort in international solidarity projects initiated or being studied in almost all continents is remarkable and significant.
