Associazione Amici dei Bambini Cardiopatici ODV ETS

The Associazione Amici dei Bambini Cardiopatici was founded in Turin in 1991—or rather reborn—as it first took shape in the 1970s from the idea of a mother who had experienced the difficult reality of having a child hospitalized in cardiology for long periods. Since its inception, the Association has aimed to provide comprehensive support to the inpatient ward of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at the Ospedale Infantile Regina Margherita in Turin.

What do we do?

- We are present in the ward with volunteers who take turns in three-hour shifts from 9:00 to 18:00/20:00, Monday to Friday, and—when needed—also on Saturdays and Sundays. Our presence provides valuable and concrete support to both hospitalized children and their parents.

- We cover the costs of four apartments (rent and utilities), located near the hospital, available to families coming from afar (from all over Italy and even from non-EU humanitarian missions).

- We donate state-of-the-art equipment to the ward, as well as other essential items (medical devices, furnishings, beds, armchairs, chairs, TVs for the ward and families, meal vouchers, toys, and other useful goods for long-term stays).

- We fund scholarships and congress participation upon request from the department heads.

What is our mission?

The goal of the Association is to always be present to offer concrete support and to ensure that children and their families never feel alone during their hospital stay—and beyond. Even when they return for follow-up visits in outpatient clinics, the Association is always there.
