The Prize

The Dammusi, typical houses of the island of Pantelleria, are an extraordinary example of eco-sustainable buildings, perfectly integrated into the landscape of the territory and functional for the agricultural economy.

Our estate has several dammusi; the original architecture has been preserved but they have been equipped to make them comfortable for enjoying a unique truly experience immersed in tradition. Built in lava stone and with walls up to 3 meters thick, our dammusi are immersed in a unique landscape, among the magnificent vineyards of Bukkuram, the dry stone walls that preserve the crops, the fantastic Pantelleria gardens and the luxuriant caper plants, with a breathtaking view of Africa on the horizon just a few tens of miles away.

The "Dammusi Experience" gives you the chance to spend a weekend here as you discover the most authentic part of Pantelleria. With our guided tours and our vineyard experience, you will have the chance stroll through the rows of vineyards, discover the ancient techniques of cultivation and winemaking, visit our cellar and savor the food and wine delicacies of the island of Pantelleria in a truly breathtaking setting.

The Cause

La Fondazione Achille Scudieri è un ente senza scopo di lucro, costituito da Paolo Scudieri, Cavaliere del Lavoro e dalla sua famiglia nel 2012 a Napoli. La mission della Fondazione Scudieri è proteggere la persona e la comunità in cui vive attraverso azioni quali:

- Formazione di giovani talenti;
- Solidarietà e assistenza sociale in favore di persone fragili in ragione di età e di condizioni fisiche, psichiche, economiche, sociali o familiari;
- Difesa della salute pubblica attraverso la ricerca scientifica;
- Protezione del patrimonio culturale italiano.

È storica la collaborazione tra la Fondazione Scudieri e l’Ospedale Santobono, l'ospedale per bambini più grande del Mezzogiorno, che ha dato vita alla realizzazione di laboratori per i giovani pazienti dei quartieri di Ponticelli, Barra e San Giovanni, alla donazione di macchinari elettromedicali e strumenti digitali per favorire la ripresa e la qualità di vita durante l'ospedalizzazione.

Con il Progetto BAMBINI CORAGGIOSI, la Fondazione Scudieri va incontro alle esigenze e necessità delle famiglie con bambini tra gli 0 e i 12 anni ospedalizzati, così che possano affrontare il momento del ricovero e della cura limitando l'ansia e lo stress. La Fondazione vuole avere un impatto positivo sia sulla salute fisica e psichica dei bambini dei reparti di Oncologia, sia apportare ricadute di valore sulla qualità di vita dell’intera comunità intorno ad essi, in primis le famiglie dei piccoli pazienti.

L'umanizzazione dei reparti procede attraverso piccoli e concreti interventi, dotando la struttura di ricovero di diverse attrezzature ad oggi mancanti. Il tutto viene gestito in coordinamento con il personale della Fondazione Santobono Pausilipon che dal 2012 aiuta i bambini di questo ospedale.
