The Prize

Meet Italian basketball star Danilo Gallinari at the 'We Playground Together' event that will take place on Sunday July 21, 2019 in Viale Sarca, Milan, Italy.

This auction includes two VIP tickets to enjoy the event from some of the best seats. You will also have the chance to meet Gallinari and take photos with the Italian basketball champion!

Following last year's success, 'We Playground Together' is back for another edition. The project, set up with the support of Milan's City Councillor for Sport,Turism and Quality of Life, promotes social integration through sport and plans to requalify the large sporting area in Viale Sarca that includes a basketball court and 5-a-side football pitch.

The facility will be fully rennovated with Mapei resin flooring personlized with the creative flair of Centro Stile di Garage Italia; new generation equipment will replace old basketball nets and scoreboards and even the football pitch will be given an overhaul with a restyling of the goalposts and surface. In addition, the benches will be replaced to make space for the young (and old) residents who will have a chance to share their love of sport with other members of the community.

The “We Playground Together” initiative aims to make street basketball more widespread, fun and accessible to all. The mission is to redevelop local basketball courts, some of which are no longer in use, in order to create sites that can welcome thousands of fans and that everyone can enjoy.

The Cause

Since 2005, Laureus Italia has been developing and supporting numerous projects aimed at minors living in situations of severe socio-economic deprivation, helping them to feel part of a community. The Foundation collaborates with more than 70 territorial realities and involves over 30 Ambassadors, sports champions and more. In addition to supporting minors in difficulty, the Laureus Italia Foundation also caters to coaches, educators and teachers through training courses.

The Laureus Foundation, in fact, uses sport as a tool for the inclusion and contrast of educational poverty to accompany minors in their growth path. The activities take place in the outskirts of Italian cities including Milan, Rome, Genoa, Naples, Catania, Palermo and Turin and involve and support over 3000 children in the practice of 20 different sports activities, including football, basketball, surfing, judo and many others.
