The Prize

Take home this Italy Alpine skiing national team race suit, from the Italian Winter Sports Federation, custom made for Italian skiier Christof Innerhofer for the 2018/2019 season, along with his official personalized race helmet.

Both items have bee signed by Innerhofer, making them unique.

Born in Brunico on 17 December 1984, Christof Innerhofer boasts top-level achievements with his two Olympic medals (silver downhill and bronze in super combined in Sochi 2014), three World Championships (gold in superG, silver in super combined and bronze in descent Garmisch-Partenkirchen 2014) and 18 World Cup podium places (6 wins - 7 second and 5 third places). He is famous for his impossible feats, such as in the World Cup in Santa Caterina Valfurva 2016 when, due to a violent jump, made a thrilling descent (finishing in 4th place) dragging a banner and a pole that had stuck under his helmet behind him for over two thirds of the race.

The Cause

“WE RUN TOGETHER – Supporting our team” is a sports initiative supporting two hospitals that have been at the heart of the fight against Covid-19, the Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo and the Fondazione Poliambulanza in Brescia. The funds raised from the auctions will go to the medical and nursing staff of these two hospitals that have tirelessly looked after Coronavirus patients in recent months.

This campaign has received the extraordinary support and blessing of Pope Francis who is actively involved in the initiative by donating some of his own personal highly valuable and prestigious sports items. Besides the Pope, many internationally renowned athletes, companies and sports clubs have joined the cause because we’re stronger together.

WE RUN TOGETHER is promoted and organized by four organizations that have always been committed to promoting the value of sport as a tool for inclusion, sharing, dialogue and peace. These organizations are:

  • Atheltica Vaticana, the first sports club in Vatican City
  • Sports group Fiamme Gialle (Guardia di Finanza)
  • “Cortile dei Gentili”, department of the Pontifical Council for Culture (VA) to promote dialogue between believers and non-believers
  •  FIDAL-Lazio, Lazio region Athletic Federation.
