Giorgio Galimberti was born in Como on March 20, 1980. Through experimenting with black and white he came to a vision of the world mainly focused on the effects of light on bodies and urban landscapes, taking typical elements of street photography and reworking them to produce a modern and narrative photographic language. His images have been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions all over the world and have been published in the leading national and international magazines such as the New York Times and La Repubblica.

"This journey to the border between Romania and Ukraine immersed me in humanity, in days of death and blood. I came here prepared for the worst, convinced that I was emotionally ready but, a few minutes after I landed, I discovered that the reality is a slap in the face, reality doesn't give a damn about your expectations. Giorgio Galimberti, who accompanied me, seems to have understood. He came without paranoia, he didn't prepare anything.

"Don't worry, the photos will come out on their own," he told me. He is straightforward and direct like his photography, full of contrasts and graininess. Sometimes his intrusiveness in photographing makes people uncomfortable, he almost looks like one of those foot-in-the-door salespeople, not giving up until he gets what he wanted. He has a real talent for capturing the instinctive reactions of what he finds in front of him. This is how the most interesting, the most sincere stories come out. I also realized that before such a difficult journey you can choose to prepare yourself by reading up, studying maps and history books, but in the end the perfect journey must be undertaken blindly, relying on improvisation. Let go of your preconceptions and let the stories you encounter build your journey."
