About Tony Bennett
Anthony Dominick Benedetto was born August 3, 1926 and is known professionally by his stage name Tony Bennett, and is an American singer of traditional lounge music standards,big band, show tunes and jazz. He is also a painter, having created works under the name Anthony Benedetto that are on permanent public display in several institutions. He is the founder of theFrank Sinatra School Of Arts in Queens, New York.
Born and raised in Astoria to an Italian-American family, Bennett began singing at an early age. He fought in the final stages of World War II as a US infantryman in the European Theatre.
His first #1 popular song "Because Of You" was released in 1951. Several top hits followed in the early 1950s. He then refined his approach to encompass jazz singing. He reached an artistic peak in the late 1950s. In 1962, Bennett recorded his most known and signature song, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco".
He staged a comeback in the late 1980s and 1990s, putting out gold record albums again and expanding his reach to the MTV Generation while keeping his musical style intact. He won 19 Grammy Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented in 2001 and 2 Emmy Awards, and was named an NEA Jazz Master and a Kennedy Center Honoree. He has sold over 50 million records worldwide.

Alabaré is the largest provider of homes for Veterans outside of London, with 23 homes in eleven areas in the South, South West, and Wales. Alabaré must raise £815,000 to support the vulnerable and homeless Veterans gain the skills, opportunities and confidence to live transformed lives outside of the military community.
