"Saving Private Ryan" is a 1998 war film directed by Steven Spielberg. In the film, Tom Hanks plays the role of Captain John H. Miller, a United States Army officer during World War II.

The plot follows Captain Miller and his platoon as they try to locate and save Private James Francis Ryan, portrayed by Matt Damon, after his three brothers have been killed in action during the war.
