Banksy Rare Original 2019 GDP Thrower Silkscreen

This work is from an edition of unknown size. Banksy's Thrower print is an evolution of one of his most well-known pieces of street art, Love Is In The Air (Flower Thrower).

The work depicts a man with a bandana over his face frozen in the act of throwing a bunch of flowers at an unseen target, and could be interpreted as conveying a message of pacifism, possibly referencing a photograph by Bernie Boston entitled Flower Power, in which a Vietnam War protester is shown inserting a flower into the barrel of a soldier's gun. Referenced and reproduced multiple times, the "Flower Thrower" has become part of the canon of street art, becoming as instantly recognizable as Banksy's rats or monkeys.

About the Artist

Known for his anti-authoritarian art, often done in public places, Banksy is an anonymous graffiti artist who merged graffiti art with installation and performance art.
