The wrought iron gates of the former Versace Mansion, lined with the designer’s signature Greek patterns have been a fixture of fascination for the passersby's on Ocean Drive ever since Gianni purchased the home in 1992.

Versace’s presence on Ocean Drive and the flashy celebrity parties at his mansion were a hallmark of South Beach’s glittery resurgence in that era. With custom bedrooms originally designed for Versace’s friends and frequent guests including Madonna, Elton John, Princess Diana, and his sister Donatella, the original artwork, furniture, and decor are a feast for the eyes.

The property features a fifty-four-foot-long mosaic swimming pool lined with twenty-four-karat gold and panoramic views of the ocean from the Rooftop lounge. The most impressive sight, however, is the famed Mosaic Garden courtyard with an enormous pebbled Medusa inlaid in the deck leading to the fifty-four-foot-long mosaic swimming pool lined in twenty-four-karat gold, all designed by Versace himself.

The mansion includes ten guest suites, each of which includes patios and balconies, Italian marble bathrooms, Egyptian cotton bed linens, and butler service. Guests also have access to two private lounges and the villa gardens.

The Versace mansion has long been a Miami tourist attraction in its own right, though, with the velvet rope and stern security guard that was ever-present at the entrance for many years, much curiosity about the lavish world that existed beyond the gilded gates gave the home its mystique.
