The Cause

Dottor Sorriso Onlus was founded in 1995 with the mission of making children's hospital stays more pleasant by giving them back their smile with Clown Therapy. Thanks to the support of private individuals, businesses and institutions, the foundation achieves its mission by having professional clowns carry out their work inside hospitals and rehabilitation centers, in strict collaboration with the medical professionals. The Dottor Sorriso clowns currently operate in 29 pediatric wards, 18 hospitals and 3 rehabilitation institutes, bringing smiles to more than 30,000 children every year, in 12 provinces all over Italy.

Dottor Sorriso Onlus was the first organization in Italy to even introduce Clown Therapy to rehabilitation institutes, to bring smiles and laughter to children affected by intellectual and motor disabilities. At the same time, over the years, the foundation has created a series of international projects in support of other organizations operating in difficult or emergency settings such as Macedonia, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Romania, India, Palestine and Burkina Faso.
