Claudio Cintoli (Imola, 15 December 1935 - Rome, 28 March 1978) was an Italian artist, painter and set designer. He also turned his hand to the activities of experimental film director, video artist, performer and art critic.

His first solo exhibition was held in 1958 at the Palazzo comunale in Recanati. In the following years there were numerous trips to Europe, and in particular to Germany and England, and in 1963 he made his first animated films, which have now been lost.

In 1965 he moved to New York, where he established a fruitful collaboration with Lindberg Productions, creating numerous animated films.

Back in Rome in 1968, Cintoli presented his first performances at Fabio Sargentini's Galleria L'Attico. This resulted in his works Annodare, Chiodo fisso, Rimbalzare, Puntelliti and Colare colore. In 1973 his alter ego Marcanciel Stuprò was born, the name that he was to adopt for many of his future works.
