The Prize

"At the suggestion of a friend who knew about my passion for archers, we went to the antiques market in Place Masséna in Nice, close to the Promenade des Anglais, where I found this magnificent archer that was 'mutilated' (the upper part of his bow is missing) but gloriously intact, powerful and proud. It took me just a few minutes to decide to take him home to join the others in the collection!" Alviero Martini

Terracotta sculpture by Ugo Cipriani.

  • Dimensions: 80 x 35 x 22 cm
  • Weight: 9kg
  • Condition: bow damaged

Alviero Martini was born in Cuneo on March 13, 1950, where he completed his artistic studies and soon began to travel while working as a window dresser. In 1987, his search for "something unique" led him a date with destiny . In Moscow he found a fascinating and faded old map. He glued it onto an old suitcase and thus he stumbled upon the idea to create an innovative line of baggage embellished with geographic maps. 1990 marks a successful year across the globe. Recognized as the creator of a new travel concept, he rapidly became well known as the 'traveling stylist'.
