Internationally renowned photographer and artist, Maurizio Galimberti is famous for working almost exclusively with a Polaroid, developing a very personal technique in which he breaks down and reassembles the image to form mosaics.

His best known portraits feature stars such as Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Umberto Veronesi and Johnny Depp (whose portrait was chosen for the September cover of Times Magazine).

“Mosaic” soon became his preferred technique for portraying not only faces, but also landscapes, architecture and cities. Galimberti harmoniously alternates the emotion in the composition, through the rhythm given by the Mosaics, with a propensity towards particularities on an intimate scene to be immortalized an rendered in a single shot or a single polaroid. His works on landscapes, cities and on the space that characterizes them, alternate these two angles, these two different ways of telling the same reality.

Galimberti has worked for Milan football, Fiat Auto, Kerakoll, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Illycaffè, Nokia and Lancia. He was a member of the jury of the “Venice Movie Stars Photography Award” photo competition dedicated to images taken at the Venice Film Festival. In 1999 he came first in the Italian photo-portraitist classification drawn up by the Class magazine.
