This photograph was taken in 2011 in Sirte in Libya, during the last stages of the civil conflict that led to the end of Gaddafi's regime. The rebels were fighting to enter the Colonel's hometown, which was protected by his army and defended by the city walls. A guerrilla, sitting on a rocket mounted on a pickup truck, watches the fighting towards the soon-to-be-conquered city in the distance. A few days later Gaddafi was captured and killed by the revolutionaries as he fled Sirte, putting an end to one of the key conflicts in contemporary history.
