The Prize

Original Banksy Banknote - Framed.

Art banknote privately printed in 2004 by the British artist who goes by the name of Banksy. A true artist's forgery. It features a portrait of Princess Diana in the place of that of Her Majesty the Queen and prints "I promise to pay the bearer on demand the ultimate price". The back features a portrait of Charles Darwin and the statement: "Trust no one". Released in relatively large numbers at the preview night of Banksy's Santa Claus Ghetto exhibition in 2004, there was also a limited edition print of an uncut full sheet.

Banksy's banknotes were printed by the Bottleneck Gallery. Technically it is an offset Chromolithography, produced in 2004.

The famous street artist produced the £10 note in 2004, seven years after the princess's death, planning to use it for a performance. The anonymous artist said he had printed 100,000 notes to be thrown from a building.

The banknote has the following dimensions: 7.5 x 14.5 cm
