The Prize

With "Private collections", CharityStars presents a collection of 22 works that lead us in an exceptional modern and contemporary art tour. Of these, 21 are unique and original pieces that come from prestigious private collections and from the Deodato Gallery. Of Giorgio De Chirico, the "Pictor Optimus" are proposed two artworks, accompanied the work of Giovan Francesco Gonzaga, considered his heir. Then there are Oriani, Pajetta, Crippa, Rotella, Dadamaino, Festa, Lodola and Brescianini. There are also presented international artists such as Sam Francis, Bernard Aubertin, Maurice Henry and Hermann Nitsch. Complete the selection two living artists, Lorenzo Marini and Tomoko Nagao. In the end, the auction also has multiplied art, with Ceroli, Bonalumi and Rotella and the rare complete collection of 5 posters executed in 1969 by Alechinsky, Bury, Folon, Topor and Henry to celebrate the centenary of La Louvière.

Art multiplied (32 of 100), cm. 70x50

It is a particular example of Multiple, hand-signed by Mimmo Rotella (Catanzaro 1918 - Milan 2006). The Calabrian Master has dedicated frequently to the art multiplies, creating multiples of torn posters (dechirage) and low-cut (decollage). This work is very special: no tears and detachments, but can be defined quite an author divertissement, which, in an American election manifesto, has entered his name along with that of two well-known politicians such as President Lyndon B. Johnson and his Vice President Hubert Humphrey (1965-1969). His first decollage date back to 1953. In 1960 he was among the founders of the Movement Nouveau Réalisme, along with other internationally renowned masters such as Yves Klein, Spoerri, Tinguely, César, Arman and Christo. Rotella is also one of the protagonists of major international auctions. Just this year, on February 9th, he has established his new record at Phillips, De Pury & Luxembourg in London, with a figure equivalent to nearly 1.39 million euro (including auction fees).
