The match played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 4 December 2016 ended 2-0 to Roma thanks to goals from Strootman and Nainggolan.

Kōnstantinos Manōlas, known as Kōstas (in modern Greek: Κωνσταντίνος "Κώστας" Μανωλάς; born 14 June 1991), is a Greek footballer who plays as a defender for Sharjah. After his debuts in Greece with Thrasyvoulos Fylis, AEK Athens and Olympiakos, in 2014 he moved to Rome where he played for five years. In 2019 he moved to Naples where he won the Coppa Italia, his first trophy in Italy. In 2021 he returned to Olympiakos, where he stayed for half the season before moving to Sharjah.

For the match, Roma took to the field with in special "Derby della Capitale" shirts created by Nike specifically for this event.
